Travel Bursary
We are pleased to offer a limited number of bursaries to travel to the 32nd Biennial New Zealand Microscopy Conference to be held in Wellington, New Zealand on 24th - 27th November 2026.
Applications will be assessed by the conference scientific committee and awarded to applicants who can best demonstrate the benefits that attending the conference will bring them. Successful applicants will be awarded $500 NZD to assist with travel and accommodation.
Applicants must MNZ members, reside in New Zealand and have submitted an abstract to present either an oral or poster session in person at the conference.
The deadline for bursary applications is 14th August 2026.
Application Guidelines
Travel bursary applications are open to anyone/students/postgraduate students/poor people currently residing in New Zealand and intending to travel to Wellington to present at either an oral or poster session at the 32nd New Zealand Microscopy Conference.
Please provide at least 300 words that explain the benefit that attending this conference will have, as well as a CV and letter of support from your supervisor/PI (to be attached).
This bursary is subject to having an abstract approved for presentation in either the oral or poster session at the conference.
It is anticipated that this bursary will not be sufficient to cover all expenses related to attending this conference and the applicant understands that they will need to provide other means of funding themselves.
Applicants who do not meet these conditions will be withdrawn from consideration.
Successful applicants will be required to prepare a short article about their conference experience for inclusion in Microscopy in Focus.
Applications close 14 August 2026 and successful applicants will be advised by early September 2026
